Entry summary

Definition

An entry summary (CBP Form 7501) is the post-release filing that finalizes the customs entry. The entry-summary filing is due within 10 working days of release (5 days for some entry types) and is what CBP uses to assess duties, taxes, and fees. The entry-summary contains the final HTS classification, value, origin, and duty computation. Once filed, the entry-summary triggers the start of the liquidation cycle. Errors discovered in an entry-summary after filing can be corrected via a Post Summary Correction (PSC) before liquidation, or by Protest under 19 USC §1514 after liquidation.
